Biking in terrential rain is not recommended...

I decided to bike out to Sam's Club to met Paul on my bike and ride home with him. Part way through my journey, hail, wind and terrential rain began! I had to try and pedal uphill through it all! Yuck! I made it though and am feeling pretty tired from it now!!! I just kept praying, "Dear Jesus, please don't let me get struck by lightening on my aluminum bike!" Apparently God saw fit for me to survive another bike ride!

Learning to Cycle!

Paul and I are working on getting into shape this summer! Paul has had two major back surgeries and the doctor says that he needs to get into shape to help strengthen his back and hopefully prevent more surgeries, at least for awhile. As for me, I been teaching all year long with little excercise. We both need to start living a healthier life.

We started out our summer by selling our old bikes and purchasing two sturdy Schwinn bikes. Of course I asked for one that would be the easiest ride! I found out that you unfortunately have to be in shape as well for the ride to be easy!

Paul and I live next to the White Pine Trail. It starts in Grand Rapids and goes all the way to Cadillac. We would like to work up to going the full 80 miles! We are starting out slow, though! Our first trip was only 5 miles. Next we stepped up to 10 miles. Yesterday we doubled that journey and did 20 miles! Our pattern of doubling our miles is now officially over!

Yesterday, we biked from our house to Rockford. Every Tuesday Rockford has a outdoor Blues performance. We got their just in time to hear the performance, but mostly enjoyed going to Custard By the Dam!  We could barely walk by the time we got home! Hope our legs get used to this soon!
